At first all seemed as usual, as she sought out each of her friends. When she woke up on one day with the conviction that SOMETHING was new, she immediately set out to investigate. Jitterbug was a somewhat nervous chipmunk who liked things to stay the same. “Because even though New can be scary, kindness is stronger than fear.” A wave hello can make all the difference to someone new. We’re all new at some point in our lives. It’s a reminder to readers of all ages that new can be scary. Pick this one up off the new shelf at the Library or bookstore. Her nerves came through with her quick hellos and fast waves and dashes. The illustrations beautifully capture the energy of the land and water in soft movements and colors. Look at the titles of the books on the floor! Crazy Rich Acorns and Handmaid’s Tail! Haha…Very cute. This cute, heartfelt read is warm and welcoming at page one. Can Jitterbug overcome her fear and welcome someone new into her world? Here’s hoping! It’s a someone! A snail from over yonder looking for a new home. Like-“Did you know that butterflies taste with their feet?” :) Jitterbug spots what’s new in the forest soon enough though. We meet two BFF otters named Duffles and Nudge and Toast the butterfly, who spreads all sorts of interesting facts. Along the way, we bump into some of Jitterbug’s friends. Sooo…she sets off to find the NEW something in her neighborhood. She just knew it! But our chipmunk hero doesn’t like change.

Something was different about the forest. Jitterbug woke up one day with a nervous feeling in her tummy.
